The Utila Real Estate Company was formed in September of 2007. We are a new company with several years of experience in The Bay Islands real estate industry.

The principal, Jeffrey Thekan, is from the United States and first moved to the Bay Islands in 1999. He started his career with ReMax Bay Islands in early 2000 and earned the prestigious President's Award for outstanding sales achievement in his first year. Mr. Thekan has lived and worked full time in the Bay Islands ever since.

Mr. Thekan was presented an opportunity to work with Phil Weir at the newly formed RoatanLife Real Estate Company. "Working with Phil as his first agent, I was able learn many important aspects of the industry. His focus on client education, market knowledge, and customer service are still with me today. Phil and I remain the best of friends". "Thanks Phil"

Four years ago, Mr. Thekan was offered a position from Mr. Al Western at Roatan Realty in Dixon's Cove. After starting to expand his sales base to Utila and the North Coast of the mainland, Mr. Western decided it was time to have a presence on Utila. Utila Realty was formed and the effort was spearheaded by Mr. Thekan who made the move to Utila in 2005.

Utila's expanding real estate market and the sale of Roatan/Utila Realty presented a unique opportunity for Mr.Thekan to forge his own company.
