Mariners Landing is a new Residential Development on the South Shore of Utila, The Bay Islands, Honduras. The Development is approximately 10.13 acres in side with just under 1,400 lineal feet of Beachfront. A fringing coral reef passes by the front of the Property with a drop-off around 100 feet out from the shoreline that descends down along the reef face reaching a sandy bottom at round 40-50 ft. The Sub-DivisionThe Mariners Landing Residential Development has been subdivided into 25 lots of varying dimensions. 22 of these lots have been designated for the building of single family homes. Of these 22 lots, 13 are located directly on the beachfront, with the remaining 9 set further back but having views of the Ocean. All Lots have beach access rights via the private road system included in their property deeds, in addition to access to the docks and dock-based Community Facilities. A number of covenants are also attached to the property deeds in order to protect the common interests of existing and future residents. Each Lot is ready for building, having been cleared of scrub and undergrowth. Mature growth native trees such as coconut palms, almond trees, sea grape, silver buttonwood, plantain and banana trees have been retained on each Lot, but can be removed if required by Home Owners building plans. The Community Facilities There will be a convenience/chandlery store with boating and fishing supplies, and water taxi service to and from Utila dock and the Cays. Also, laundry facilities, a quiet library, and widescreen TV/DVD audio visual system provided for functionality, relaxation, and enjoyment. The Lighthouse/Clubhouse provides over 1,500 square feet interior space with an additional 1,500 plus square feet of deck and pool area. Next to the pool is a planned “long house”, covered pavilion with open sides, housing an old 35 foot local fishing dory, which will be converted into a dining table, for a unique gathering place. The facilities at Harbor House include an air conditioned gym, cold water, toilet facilities, TV/DVD, and an onsite personal trainer. The business center on the second floor, provides satellite internet services and international phone service along with all supplies and conveniences of a modern business center in an air conditioned suite. The coffee shop, is an experience in itself. You will be greeted by a 7 foot pirate who stands guard on the second floor. The décor is that of a wharf and the fare is simple, with specialty coffees and refreshing drinks, soft serve ice cream, and other goodies prepared by the local Cayon women, a short lunch menu will be served. On the third floor the atmosphere becomes that of a yacht club, the Mariners Yacht Club, with a deck to watch the happenings on the harbor, sip your java, and quietly relax or interact with other people. It will also be the location of movies shown on a large screen on selected nights. The smell of fresh popcorn will certainly entice you to stay and relax. In the future, the yacht club will serve dinners a couple of times a week, offering a different menu each night. Table clothes and candle light will transform the movie house into an elegant and intimate dinning facility. There is also a roof top deck for invited guests to star gaze. As a bonus, there is an air conditioned studio apartment with a private entrance available to Mariners Landing owners while visiting or building. When not in use for owners, it will be used for scheduled beauticians and massage therapists. Henry has over 35 years experience in the construction industry, while Victoria has many years of experience in Business Administration and Human Resources at the Vice President level. Henry and Victoria are constructing their main residence at Mariners Landing and will be moving from the nearby Utila Cays to join the Mariners Landing Community. In the meantime, they are always available and on hand to impart their advice and wealth of practical experience regarding construction and living in Utila. You would be well advised to listen to them if you want to learn how to ‘really’ get things done and work with the local suppliers, importers, builders, laborers, and authorities. The Mariners Landing Development Corporation provides on-site security for resident’s buildings, both completed and under-construction. In addition, to the facilities and services described previously, the Corporation provides with road maintenance, beach cleaning, pier maintenance, trash disposal, fire suppression system, colony arrival and departure water taxi transportation from Utila.
